De-Shedding, a pile of removed dead hair

What is De-Shedding?

De-shedding is the process of removing loose, dead undercoat from pets using specialized tools, bathing and conditioning products. This removes trapped fur and prevents matting and skin irritation. It can reduce shedding by up to 90%. For heavy-shedding breeds it is best performed roughly every 6 weeks.

Process

Surface tangles and loose hair are removed before bathing. Bathing involves using specialized shampoo and conditioner to loosen the undercoat and hydrate the skin, this allows dead hair to release easily. The remaining loose undercoat is then removed by raking, using a specialised de-shedding tool.

Effective for double-coated breeds like German Shepherds, Huskies, Samoyeds, and Collies.
